We hand-condition and hand-dye hemp bondage rope. Why processed hemp, you say?
- For Japanese-style bondage, hemp is traditional.
- Hemp is strong.

- Hemp has good "tooth", which means it holds knots well.
- Hemp has a high burn rate, meaning it's less likely to cause rope burn.
- Hemp does not stretch like some synthetic rope.
- Twisted hemp makes lovely rope marks.
Why Aja Rope?
We condition and dye Romanian hemp rope by hand. In small batches. During our 11-Step process, each inch of rope is inspected and handled dozens of times. This results in a rope free of splinters, imperfections, lumpy splices, or anything that may jeopardize the thorough enjoyment of your rope experience.
We are rope folks. We won't sell anything we wouldn't use ourselves.
We sell our hemp rope for 90 cents per foot. A 30-foot length is $27. Our standard lengths are 10, 15, 30 and 50 feet for 6mm and 8mm. We offer 4mm in 5, 10, and 15 foot lengths. Want a custom length? Let us know! It's still 90 cents per foot.
